Photography for everybody! Busy as bees!

Summer is here and going full force! We have really had fair weather, minus a few hot days and a little rain. Never mind that tornado in Stone State Park last week! It was close but close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades, as the old saying goes.

We are lucky. We do what we like and we’re good at it! Our clients are the best in the world and we know it. Seniors come here, some anxious, some excited but all with the trepidation of how they are going to look in their portraits. They walk away feeling like they have never looked better and, really, they always have a great time. We are not typical photographers, for our goal is always about capturing the spirit, the essence of who that person is at that time. We freeze the moment and forever, you are eighteen. Twenty years from now, you look at that image and you will remember the feeling of the day and here, we strive to make it a fun, interesting, special setting.

Families, seniors, wedding and commercial work, including web site development are all types of work we do at iZZon photography. Eric has recently completed a web site for Golden Auto. Check it out!

Weddings are always a special event and we have done a few recently. Here is an image of a recent wedding. This is a traditional composition but I loved the framing of the tree with the church in the background. They were awesome to work with, too! Of course, before a wedding comes the engagement photos! We loved this young couple.

The flowers are in full bloom, especially the daylilies! We have an awesome outdoor studio and it is perfect for family portraiture. Family reunions, like this one at Bacon Creek Park are fun to do, too. This is a family we have known for years. As a matter of fact, it is because of this family, Eric and I met! Without them, there would be no us. Here is a photo of the Great Great Grandmother with the youngest member and the next image is almost the whole clan!

Another family came in with three generations. The grandparents took images with the grand children, the adult children and then their individual families. We do all that for a $45 setting fee. Enlargements are ordered ala Carte. Whatever you want, whenever you want. Cool, huh!

Eric and I volunteer a lot and I mean A LOT because we feel we live in this community, we give to this community. We help friends, family, give time and talent to charities, including the Sioux City Museum and Historical Association, Nebraska Heart Gallery, Now I Lay Me down to Sleep and The United Way. Whew! I always say I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Recently we were invited to help the United Way with some still photography for their new capital campaign. It was a tremendous fun and here is an image of some of the folks who work at the United Way. I have done executive portraits for Tim, the president, but never have I seen him play dodge ball with Heather and Molly! Shot at Full Effect Productions, we were able to shoot in tandem with their videography. They have a wonderfully large studio! The United Way Live United!TM Campaign kicks off August 14, 2008 at 7:30 at the new Unity School. Check it out and volunteer! We will see you there!

This weekend we volunteered at the Bill Diamond Antique and Classic Car Show at Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center. We were selling brats and sodas, along with the other great volunteers from the Sioux City Museum and Historical Association. Here is a photo of Eric cooking. His dad took this photo as physical evidence that his son can and does actually work on occasion! Seriously, Eric likes to grill and does this event yearly. He loves the old cars, too!

And now on to family…Devyn, our granddaughter, is almost a year old so we had to take some images of her as she nears the momentous occasion. Here is a photo we used for her birthday announcement.

Sunday nights, Eric is shooting the races at Raceway Park and I'm in the shirt shack, unless there is a tornado going to Stone State Park. Monday is catchup day. Anyone want to volulnteer for Duke Poop Pick up? What a life! Gotta love it!
