Seniors, Commercial Shoots and Labor Day

Seniors have headed back to school but many are still getting their portraits taken. We still have time and appointments available and are flexible to work with your schedule. Saturdays are the only days we cannot take seniors because we have weddings every Saturday from now until the snow flies! Here is a recent senior.

We were recently commissioned to do portraiture for an ad company of a local welder. This is one of the images we will send to the advertising agent.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day! Take some time and visit Sioux City's ArtSplash for some fun!

One kitten, maybe two left...

We are finding good homes for our kittens but we still have two left. One female is promised to a client but I haven't been able to get in contact with her and the last male just needs someone to care for him. He is black and white and is not a polydactal. They are so cute to watch but they need to find a home where someone can take the time to play with them. Please let me know if you would like to have one!

Steamy summer photography and portraiture

Hey, folks! Sorry for running behind on the blog! We have had some great seniors, families, babies, fantastic weddings and commercial portraiture. The weather last week was miserable. Our seniors were melting with the humidity. We had to take the camera’s outdoors about a half an hour to acclimate the lenses to the air or they would steam up- on the inside! Even though the weather conditions were less than stellar, we worked with the seniors, going in and out, getting cooled off until the outdoor setting was complete. Here are several images taken in the past two weeks.

The weather was looking fairly ominous on a recent trip to the Sioux Falls Falls Park. A man who is a boiler inspector is being editorialized in a boiler magazine and the publisher needed to have a portrait done by a Sioux Falls landmark. We thought that Falls Park would make a wonderful background.

We’ve also done a family and a baby here and there. Of course, here is a new one of our Devyn.

And of course a wedding that was awesome! It’s always nice to work with great folks and have some fun, too.

Next week, we will be taking images of a welder, some seniors and hopefully some more kitten shots. The kittens have now found new homes and there is only one polydactil kitten left. Any takers?

Individual seniors with ideas and kitten photographs

We took some time out this weekend to take some kitten images. This is what we call "filling up the cup", a way to refresh our viewpoints. Cindy, (another gal who loves photography), Eric and I took many images of our kittens. Some set up shots, some action shots but we were pooped after an hour! I wish I had their energy. I think the candid of Eric holding an arm load of kittens tell the story of how much "wrestling kittens" involves better than I ever could!

Each senior is different. Each wedding is different. It is our philosophy each portrait should be approached with a fresh eye. A senior recently came to the studio with some interesting ideas.

He then wanted some inventive portraiture that was somewhat traditional.

Another senior came in and wanted something that was completely different. She liked this introspective pose.

A candid moment, however, was also a favorite. Portraiture is subjective. Like what you like and never settle for the same thing the other guy took. Let it reflect who you are!

Portraits, business, weddings, snap happy photographsers!

It has been a productive week plus since I have had time to blog so I apologize for those who actually read it! And I thank those of you who do, you’re the best! First, let’s show off some of our seniors:

More have been here and many more are coming in for portraiture. It is always fun to work with kids. Can any of you tell us what the magic word is? icon_wink

We also do some portraiture on site for advertising for Yellow Book. Here is a new chiropractor in North Sioux City and his team. This is a basic portrait but it is effective in allowing his clients to see him and his friendly staff before they make an appointment. I visited with Dr. Bill for a while and for those who are experiencing pain, give this man a call! He and his staff will fix up up!

Weddings? Do we do weddings? Of course and we love them. We recently went to Remsen, Iowa and did a wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. It is a very nice church with an interesting history and an outdoor grotto.

When we were in Iowa City, we came across a camera store called University Camera. We purchased Quantum’s T5 from Roger Christian, the owner. The flash is the biggest dog in town and it is fantastic. If you need photo equipment, go to www.ucamerea.com and I think you will be happy with the price and the fantastic customer service Roger and his staff will give you! Two thumbs up for this store!!

Families grow so fast and it is great to get a family portrait every now and then. We recently did this family portrait and some individual shots of each as well. It was a lot of fun. We have known the dad for years, going back to the ‘70’s. His boy is headed to finish boot camp in October so it was important to get an image of them all together. Good luck, Chaz. Rachelle and Danielle are taking two of our kittens, too.

We will be doing kitten photos and updating a portrait of Devyn for ourselves. Unfortunately, these things are a lot like the mechanics car, the last to get done. Take care and let me know how things are going in your world!

Please meet our granddaughter, Devyn
