Latham Park, Petal Pushers and wedding photography

Unique flowers complete any wedding and I really like this beautiful bouquet designed by the creative folks at Petal Pusher. It is tropical with an Asian influence. The bride is gorgeous and very sweet. Her husband is just as kind and handsome. They had a wonderful wedding at a local park, Latham Park, in Sioux City. You can see part of the park in these images. We often do outdoor weddings at Latham Park, The Rose Garden and the Anderson Dance Pavilion.

Iowa City Wedding, Senior, Executive Head and Shoulders, and a Hotel

Before a quick trip to Iowa City, we took some images of two professionals in South Sioux City at their new location. It can be challenging to take portraiture on location but I think these guys look great!

Saturday morning we started taking images of the wedding events. It was a unique location. The theater was really dramatic and the couple was a lot of fun, too!,p/>

Monday came with a senior. He did a fantastic job of listening and cooperating.

Later that day, we took commercial images of the new Hampton Inn in Sioux City, IA. It is going to be a great place to stay. The manager and her staff was very nice and cooperative.

Come alone or with a crowd! Coming soon-Kitty photos!

Wow, time flies so fast when your having fun and we’ve been having tons of fun! Here are some images taken at our studio recently.

These two are a couple that is out for a fun time and we had fun taking their portraits! They have a wedding in October and it will be a blast! And they are going to take one of the kittens when they are old enough! I'm so glad it will be going to a nice home!

This senior was a bit nervous about getting her portrait taken but we laughed and giggled and she took some stunning images. I think she left feeling relaxed and pleased! Her mom and sister came with her as did her boyfriend.

It is fine with us if you have people watch your setting. The more the merrier! It is a personal decision and if you feel uncomfortable having people watch you, than don’t bring them. If having family or friends tag along makes you happy, we are down with that, too! Dogs, cats, rats or elephants can come along for the ride. The one thing we don’t do is cats and dogs together. We found out the hard way that they usually don’t mix-and we have the scars to prove it!

A family came for an early morning setting. They were a blast and their little boy was so cute! He was magnificent when it came time to get his portrait taken, he was a pro! Just look at that smile and pose!

If you notice, this images is longer than norma in size. Not all images need to be a 2:3 ratio. We can create images within a variety of shapes and sizes.

Kitty Update:Their eyes are opening. icon_eek New photographs will be coming soon!

Choosing services for a wedding-Get Referrals!

There has been quite a bit of talk of the bridal shop in Sioux City that has not conducted business in an honorable way in a previous Minnesota location. I don't know how much of it is true or speculation but from what I have read in our local paper, there are many complaints that need to be addressed. I feel really bad for the brides whose dresses never appeared.icon_cry

Baby portraiture, art, an apology, a jab and just for your information.

Babies are so wonderful to photograph. Look at this portrait of this inspiring artist! We had so much fun with her! It took about an hour to do a butt load of poses and she didn't mind a bit!

Since we had some fun shots of her daddy tossing her up in the air, I put some of my own artistic skills to work and came up with this image.

A professor, a very wise man whose wisdom did not only encompass the hallowed walls of academia, said, “Life is hard. Art helps.” The visual arts, like photography, drawing, sculpting, are culturally and spiritually beneficial to us all. The art of conversation, be it intelligent or irreverent, email, books, blogs, letters, movies, personal, or a phone call can also lift us out of the doldrums of daily living. A chuckle, a belly laugh, a thoughtful story, a short conversation or a pat on the back can cause reflection and make the day more meaningful and positive. Recently, it has come to my attention that emails I sent to friends at a company I used to work for caused them some difficulty. I apologize to anyone who these emails caused any trouble for that is not my intent. I only care that you have a wonderful day, today, because as I have said before, today is all we have. From a business prospective, I understand the catastrophy an email virus can cause, loss of time means loss of revenue, and personal issues on company time should be minimized. However, I also know from a business owner's prospective, happy workers work harder, stay longer and are more productive and creative. To those who rule with an iron fist, it is better to guide with a velvet glove. In other words, lighten up, dumbass! icon_rolleyes

FYI-The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and other U.S. regulations require all emails be archived if the company is publically owned. Private owner have the right to look at every email that leaves their office provided they have the policy in writing.

Christening gowns and sepia spot toning.

A baby’s Christening is always a memorable event. This little gal was christened in an antique gown that has been in the family for generations. Layers of ruffles were added for every family member who used it. It was important to the family to get a portrait to commemorate the event and get an image of the gown. We did some full length images to show off the gown but bhe parents, who obviously find tradition to be important, are also creative and wanted to do some fancy printing. Here we have sepia toned the dress and spot colored her eyes. It is important to have an image with a close up of the eyes to do accomplish the desired effect. To do this, you layer two photos and erase part of the first layer. Many photo editors on the market today can create this effect.

Fun in the summer!

It has been a photo-taking frenzy the last couple of days-just the way we like it! This return client uses our images for her telephone ad and for her business as an attorney. Her dog is as awesome as is his owners (her husband comes to help handle the dog but he is a wonderful dog and listens well)!

Several weeks ago, a gal called to book a birthday photo session with some of her girlfriends. They are all going to graduate this year and one is moving away. It is a wonderful way to commiserate their last summer together. Fun-loving gals, this is a shot they thought would be cute and it is!

Last, but not least, we did a wedding yesterday, 7-7-7, as did many others but all of are weddings are special, no matter what the date! This couple took a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of wedding activities to run away with us to a lake. They are going to be so glad they did because the shots are outstanding!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day!

Soldier, Iowa, Victorian Underware and duotone images, and baby kittens!!

Soldier, Iowa has a very lovely old church out in the country! We took wedding images out there this weekend and they were lovely. The couple were great to work with and this candid shot shows the great day shared by all!

Jim Jung opened his restored and decorated Victorian home in Sioux City to the public this Sunday as a fund raiser for Terrace Hill Society to support the Victorian home’s restoration in Des Moines. He asked me if I wished to help and I did! Jim asked that I dress in Victorian era clothes so I went to Dowry Costumes. As I was driving over, I was thinking it was going to be a warm Sunday and dreading the thought of being draped in long skirts and heavy dress in this warm weather when it dawned on me-I could wear the under garments of the era! I did and it was a hoot! I found out as I arrived that Jim had decided against wearing period clothing. It was funny and I did stay cool! Jim had a great turn out and I visited with many interesting, intelligent individuals and enjoyed participating. This is a photograph Eric took of me and Duke. I then turned it to duotone and did some artwork to make it look antique. What do you think?

This morning we awoke to the sound of kittens. Karma has had six so far and it looks like there could be more. She is having them in our closet. All seem to be doing well. I am going to leave her alone until she is done delivering, then I will check on the babies but she was purring through it all. Amazing!
