When is it okay to manipulate an image? When you want to!

Weddings, all unique in their own way, inspire us to take different images or artistically alter an image to make it more artistic. The photos I have chosen to share how we can take a simple portrait shot and change it.

We search for moments that inspires us to capture the mood of the wedding. In these instances, Eric and I were both captivated by the soft glow of candlelight.

It is very cool when you take images of couples that reflect both of their personalities. An image that complements both is a keeper! These two are fun and it shows!

Seniors are still ordering images from last year. Donovan is into hockey and his mom and dad wanted a collage to reflect the importance of it in his life. Working together, we came up with this image to satisfy everyone!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and honor. It is a day to remember the fallen soldiers of past and present that allow us to enjoy our freedom. It has become a day to relax and spend time with family and friends. Many people have expressed disdain in the later, opposed to a frivolous day spent on the river rather than reflecting on and remembering the loss of our loved ones, soldiers, and honoring their memory with patriotic somberness. Whatever way you choose to spend Memorial Day, say a silent thank you to the soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice because without them, the contention would be mute.

I hope you enjoy the day, the moment, the very second that has just passed because in essence it is all we really have.

Beyond Photography

Eric and I love when we get to visit with people about photography, when we can share some info about photography, standing behind the camera and creating digital magic but we like to do other things sometimes. We visit with family and friends. I garden and walk. He works on an old motorcycle. I read and watch television. He and I are both addicted to Spider Solitar. Occasionally, we will do a "fun" project together outside of the world of photography, like redecorate a room, or strip a piece of furniture. Recently, we took an old door and turned it into a headboard and shelf. We have always re-invented items and designed things to work for us-partly because we are thrifty and partly because we are creative. If we don't find a way to express our creativity, both of us would explode! It's easier to show you the work in progress and the finished product than it is to explain it. So what do you think of the finished project?

We like it. This is our bedroom with the headboard and shelf, and yes, that is one of our images behind the leaded glass.

Check this out!

We have just created a new area in our back yard and thought maybe you would like to check it out. We now have the white lattice finished. While it looks a little bear right now, give it until the end of the season and it will look full and fantastic with new growth. Patience is what it takes to grow a garden. For those of you who haven't been to our studio, I thought you might find these images interesting.

Some more engagement couples came to visit us. Can you tell we had fun? Both couples are just wonderful. It won't be long and we will be seeing all these folks for their wedding day. Didn't they take awesome images?

Again, to all of the Class of 2007, as you cross the stage this week and prepare for a new beginning, Eric and I wish you all the best.

Family Fun, More Engaging Portraiture

It's been very busy at our studio but we have had some great fun! Recently we had a family in that was just a blast!

This couple came to our studio and we had a bunch of fun with these two, as well! This is a great portrait. Aren't they a nice looking couple? Looks and personality, what a combination. Can't wait till the wedding!

We've added some white lattice board to the side of our garage to make it look nicer and a great place to take photographs. A few finishing touches and it will be done! Stop by and see the new addition to our outdoor studio!,

More engagements, weddings, Sioux City icons and yard work

Boy, when it warms up in the midwest, it warms up! It is going to be warm for the next couple of days so it is time to finish yard work. We are creating a new garden area with white lattice that will complement the rest of our outdoor studio. We have a fantastic park in our back yard. We have fountains, flowers, rock landscape, wood fences, and decks galore! Now we will have a romantic trellis area with roses and other flowers.

Another engagement couple came to see us and had their pictures taken. They are getting married on a cruise. How exciting!

We have some work to do regarding Sioux City and Woodbury County photographs. Here is one of the recent images we are selling to a magazine. What do you think? Any ideas?

From a senior portraits to engagement portraiture.

Last night we had the pleasure of taking images for a couple and their little pup. This young lady is getting married to this fellow in about three weeks. This is just another example of the long relationships we create at iZZon Photography! We took her senior photographs just a few short years ago. Time flies!

Saturday's fun and a cat's portrait

Saturday we took images of a family who we have had as clients and friends for several years now. They are a great group of people with kind hearts and an adventurous spirit! As time passes, so do relationships and this family has made the passage from clients to friends. We share our love of family, photography and pie with laughter and tears. Like so many families, things are changing. A daughter is graduating and a son is leaving to share time with other family members so it is our sincere hope these images will bring memories of joy and solidarity to all. It is always a pleasure to work with such folks as these! We hope to see the kids when they come back to visit the 'rents' (that's parents for those not in the loop) and share pie with their mom and dad while their away!

We also just purchased some new lights for the studio. Eric put them up and took some test shots of the family cat. She was not happy! No animals were hurt in the making of this photograph. icon_wink
