Engagement photos and SSC supports Darfur photo booth fun!

A couple came to have their engagement images taken and it was a great shoot! Gotta love people in love! These two were fun and a great couple. Hopefully it will be warmer when their summer wedding gets here! I thought I would show you the same portraits, one in color and one in black and white. Both are striking but for different reasons. it really depends on your own personal preferences. Me? I can't choose either!icon_smile

We are going to be at South Sioux City Middle School with our photo booth on Wednesday, March 5 from 11:00 until 2:00 in an effort to help them raise money to support Darfur. It should be a lot of fun! We will be posting some of the images soon!

Senior portraiture-not too late!Photo booth @South Sioux City in March !

Well, seniors, it's not too late to get your portraits done. It might be too late for the year book but you still have family and friends who want to see you in all your senior glory and achievement. It is STILL a huge goal to graduate from high school and it should be celebrated like the milestone it is! Check out this athlete from South Sioux City High. Tony loves baseball and his images reflect who he is and who he wants to become.

Speaking of South Sioux City, we are going to help the South Sioux City Middle School with their fund raiser for Darfur. We are helping them raise money with our photo booth! It is great to see young people express an interest beyond their own environment and see the world is a great big place with many people whose basic needs are not met. We are proud to be a part of their fundraiser.

Holding feet, being unique and having fun!

People come to our studio looking for quality photography and they go away a part of the family! It always brings us such joy to work and play with folks like these two and their family. We used some new lighting for this shot of the two of them and then Christy wanted photographs of her and James "holding feet". If you think about the intimacy of holding feet, you know how comfortable we have become with this couple and they with us! We took these shots in our living room with flash bounced at the ceiling in black and white. It was a lot of fun!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Eric and I decided to give a little love to you all!

Just mention the valentine when you book your appointment!

All We need is LOVE! An engagement setting, bedding and a birthday wish!

So here we are and it is one more day until Valentine’s Day. For those of you who have found love, enjoy it, nurture it and be respectful. For those of you who are looking, finding love is a matter of action. Fear nothing and do something. Looking for the perfect man or woman is a waste of time. Nobody is perfect and if you don’t believe me, turn around and look at your behind. I bet it has a crack in it! And for all of us, it is imperative to remember, love is a verb. Love is that touch at the end of a long day, a look while you watch your kids play, it’s a shared cup of coffee before the day begins, dreams that never end, time shared, souls bared, lives enriched, cars in the ditch, apologizing for being a bitch, finding his warm back with feet that are ice cold, growing old, learning not to smother, and patience. Okay, so I'm not much of a poet but what the heck?

A lady who had been married many years told me a story a long time ago that changed my attitude towards my marriage and all my relationships. I’ll share it now and hope to give it justice. There was a storm brewing and it was getting worse by the minute. This young bride was worried and fearful about her farmer husband who had yet to make it in from the fields. The stronger the winds and the rains came, the angrier she became. How dare he make her worry? Did he have any consideration for her at all? She was as furious as the wind. The gale force winds were whipping around and the sky was black as night. A tornado was bound to come over the ridge any minute. She had decided it was time to go to the cellar, she could wait no longer, and opened the door to see her husband coming down from the barn, struggling against the wind and rain, carrying a basket full of baby chicks. All her anger vanished in an instant when she seen that her man had risked his life to save those chicks. She remembered kindness and caring was what had attracted her to her husband in the first place. I asked if she ever told him how angry she was and she said she never did but whenever she became angry at her husband for some oversight she thought he did, she just remembered the day of the storm, him and a basket full of chicks.

Here is a couple we took engagements of this last week. It was cold, snowy and bright but we took some wonderful portraits. These two are awesome and I love the story of how they found each other. Got a love story to pass on for Valentine’s Day? Pass it on here.

An odd thing, this romance, love we talk about all the time. We glorify it, honor it, and revere it. We romanticize history, people, places and events. We had a young man carry out our groceries last week and commented enthusiastically on how cool it must be to be a photographer. Eric and I both agreed whole-heartedly our photography is a labor of love and we know most folks see it as a glamorous job but they, they have not participated the summer time ritual of Monday morning poop scoop or the tough days of shooting we had last week with bedding. College Covers had us take many images of their bedding with college campus logos on it. We, including the owner, made and ironed more beds in one day than I did when I was working as a maid in a motel! Nothing glamorous about that, but it was still a day in the studio, doing what we love. That's romance!

Happy Birthday, SAMANTHA! From your crazy aunt and uncle! Hope it is a great day!

Karma update

Just a quick update on the pregnant cat we adopted last summer, Karma. She went to a good home with one of her babies and is now a spoiled queen of a kitty but she is still a free spirit I guess. News has it she is pregnant again, much to the owners pleasure, though. This nice couple live on a farm and like to have many cats around so they purposely set up a romantic rondeverous with a specific male cat. I guess the only thing that was missing was candles and Dean Martin! icon_eek Lots of bookings on the photo booth and weddings this week! It is that time of year. Let me know what you want to talk about.
